Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management

Demand Planning

During my time at Microsoft FastTrack, I supported the team in creating Demand Planning and introduced it to more than 30 customers.

Where Demand Planning sits in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: history and master data feed Demand Planning, the agreed forecast drives Supply Planning, purchase and sales orders execute against it, and what was actually sold returns as the next cycle's history. Your data History and master data Demand Planning Forecast, review, consensus Supply Planning Master planning, MRP Sales and delivery Orders and quotes

Demand planning in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management is a separate application that runs next to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, with its own data model.

  1. Import data Sales history, products, sites and prices from Supply Chain Management or any of 47 Power Query sources.
  2. Create transformation The imported tables become time series by day, week or month.
  3. Create forecasts The system picks the best forecasting method for each product, or you choose one.
  4. Review & adjust forecast Planners adjust, comment and agree on one forecast, with every change on record.
  5. Export data The agreed forecast goes to master planning in Supply Chain Management or any other system.

Why Demand planning

Rich capabilities for everyday planning.

What it does

  • No single method for everything. The system tests every available forecasting method against your own sales history.
  • The best one per product. Each product and location gets the method that was most accurate on its past.
  • Hard cases included. New items and items with occasional demand, such as spare parts, get methods built for them.
  • Accuracy you can see. Planners see which method each item uses and how accurate it is.

How I support you

I show you how Demand planning looks and feels and how easy it is to work with. Experience from more than 30 customers shows that the best next step is a proof of concept on your own data.

  1. 1Intro call and scopeWhat are you looking for? Where does planning hurt today, and which processes run slow or are too complex? Your answers shape the demo I prepare for you.
  2. 2A demo tailored to youA short introduction to Demand planning, then your scenarios on your own data. Together we see what it does for your cases, and where its limits are.
  3. 3Proof of conceptA small scope, your environment, your planners. Together we prove the forecasts on your data and agree on what the implementation needs.
  4. 4ImplementationTogether we take the proof of concept into production: data, forecast models and the connection to Supply Chain Management. Your planners are trained until they own the forecast.

A running solution in less than 3 months.

Something broader than Demand Planning

Blueprint review, go-live readiness, or a project that has already slipped. That is the other half of what I do.
